5 Best 360-Degree Cameras for Real Estate

The real estate industry has changed dramatically. In today’s world of real estate, realtors are delivering virtual 360-degree tours of properties using digital technology. But not all of the 360-degree cameras would provide a great virtual experience.

Hello folks! My name is Lavelle and I am a professional photographer and videographer. Since 2009 I have been providing professional services to clients from all industries including real estate. During my career, I have been contracted to deliver 360-degree virtual tours for realtors.

Today, I will share with you the list of the best 360-degree cameras for real estate purposes. I also will discuss some of the things you should look for in a 360-degree camera for real estate.

Key Takeaways

  • Look for a 360 camera that captures high-quality images and videos to give your clients the most immersive experience.
  • Consider choosing a user-friendly camera that is easy to operate.
  • Avoid 360 cameras that have short battery life. These cameras will hinder you from being as productive as you could be each day.
What are the must-have accessories for 360-degree real estate cameras?

360-degree real estate cameras should include things like a remote clicker, a tripod, and compatible applications.

The cost of 360-degree cameras varies. Typically, the costs range from $500 and up depending on the features.

Several brands make and sell 360-degree cameras used in real estate. Some of the more common brands include Panasonic, GoPro, Samsung, Insta, and Ricoh.

What Makes the Best 360-degree Camera for Real Estate

Here are some of the things that I suggest you look for in a 360-degree camera.

  • Resolution: One of the most important aspects of a good 360-degree camera is its resolution. Realtors need to show potential buyers images and videos in pristinely clear detail. The resolution needs to be strong enough to show details when zoomed in fully without distortion.
  • Battery Life: The technology in 360-degree cameras drains batteries very quickly. You want a camera that holds a battery charge for approximately 2 hours, as most 360-degree cameras range between 1 and 2 hours maximum battery life.
  • Processor Speed: A good, fast processor is desirable. The 360-degree cameras are known for overheating relatively quickly, especially with slower processors. The camera needs to have a good sensor since it will be used for long hours, mostly every day.
  • Video System: Realtors need to convey messages via video in short clips as well as in lengthy formats. The video system should allow for live streaming and immersive 3D experiences.

The Best 360-degree Cameras for Real Estate Reviewed

Without further ado, here is the list of the best 360-degree cameras for real estate.

1. Theta Z1 360 Degree Spherical Camera (Best Overall)

  • Image Resolution: 23MP
  • Video Resolution: 4K
  • Processor: 1-inch CMOS Sensor
  • Feature: Image Stabilization

Atop my list is the Theta Z1 360-Degree Spherical Camera. This amazingly high-quality camera gives realtors the ability to capture stunning images and crystal-clear video. The CMOS sensor gives excellent performance and the image stabilization system is second to none.

Some of the features of this camera include wifi and Bluetooth connectivity, SnapDragon and Android operating systems, and several excellent shooting modes. The camera also features noise reduction and exceptional ISO productivity.

The thing that stands out most is the image stabilization system. It has a 3-axis rotational system that provides remarkably stable images and videos. Video performance stands at 3840×1920 resolution.

There are two minor areas of concern. One is that the battery cannot be replaced with this camera. Therefore, there is no other upgrade option for battery life. Secondly, there is no memory card option on the unit.

My Verdict: The Theta Z1 is at the top of the class on this list. It provides exceptional image and video quality and allows for excellent scalability using plugins and upgrades.

2. Insta360 Pro 2 3D Camera (Best Resolution)

  • Image Resolution: 12K super high resolution
  • Video Resolution: 8K 3D VR
  • Processor: Proprietary System
  • Feature: Flow state stabilization system

The second choice is the remarkable Insta360 Pro 2 3D. This impressively designed camera delivers the best resolution on this list. It also boasts an exceptional flow state stabilization system.

When it comes to resolution, there is nothing better than what you find here. In addition to it, Insta360 Pro 2 3D also offers other great features including 6 fisheye lenses, built-in GPA, LAN, and USB connections, live streaming, and FarSight Image transmission.

The unparalleled resolution system is impressive. It offers a variety of resolutions and frame rates to pick from like 8K, 3D @30 fps, and 4K, 2D/3D @120 fps.

The only drawback that pushes it to the number two spot is…the exorbitant price point. This camera is very expensive and should be closely considered as it is a major investment.

My Verdict: If it were not for the price, this camera would be the top choice on my list. The features are great as is the performance. It offers everything that a professional realtor needs to deliver high-quality images and videos for potential clients.

3. GoPro Max 360 Camera (Best Audio)

  • Image Resolution: 16.6MP
  • Video Resolution: HD 1080p
  • Processor: Proprietary System
  • Feature: Max HyperSmooth

The GoPro Max 360 is a great option, especially for real estate professionals who vlog. With notable features and an excellent price point, this 360 camera makes a lot of sense.

Some of the features included are the live stream capability, 16.6-megapixel image resolution, high definition video resolution, and its Max HyperSmooth image stabilization system.

The most notable feature of this camera is its audio system. The GoPro Max 360 comes equipped with six microphones that combine to produce exceptionally clear audio. The sound is in full stereo and allows real estate professionals to add words/sound to the virtual experience.

There are some issues with frame rates when using some of the lens options. This problem becomes noticeable when attempting to use some of the digital lenses onboard the camera.

My Verdict: This is a really good camera that is affordable and gets the job done. While it does not have the best specs on the list, it does offer quality specifications that enhance the virtual experience for clients.

4. Trisio Lite 2 VR Camera (Best Battery Life)

  • Image Resolution: 32MP
  • Video Resolution: N/A
  • Processor: Proprietary System
  • Feature: Battery life is up to 200 minutes

The Trisio Lite 2 VR Camera has some nice qualities and is proven to be useful for real estate professionals. It offers excellent image quality and has an industry-leading battery life.

The Trisio Lite 2 stacks up formidably against the competition on this list. It is designed specifically for real estate use and is priced affordably. It is equipped with some impressive optical lenses that can deliver stunning 8k images.

The most impressive feature of this camera is its battery life. With up to 200 minutes of battery life, this camera leads the pack in that category.

However, it does not offer video capability. While the image quality is exceptional, not having video capability is a drawback since videos get much more attention than still images.

My Verdict: This camera is extremely user-friendly and very affordable. The image quality is impressive and it can be remotely controlled.

5. Samsung Gear 360 Camera (Best Budget)

  • Image Resolution: 15MP
  • Video Resolution: 4K
  • Processor: Dual CMOS Sensor
  • Feature: IP-53 water resistant

The final choice is the Samsung Gear 360 Camera. It is almost impossible to list some of the best 360 cameras without mentioning the Samsung brand. A household name for many years, the Samsung family has delivered a nice option in the Gear 360 Camera.

It offers good image resolution with its 15-megapixel performance and has a solid video production system that gives you 4K video resolution. The Dual CMOS sensor provides excellent support as the camera produces clear footage. It also delivers live streaming capability and has an excellent battery life.

The best thing about this camera is the price point. It is priced affordably enough for just about any real estate professional to afford. The features that come with this camera are excellent given its relatively low price point.

The fact that this camera isn’t waterproof, is one of the things that worries me about it. Furthermore, for optimal use, the camera needs a more recent Samsung phone.

My Verdict: This is a really good choice for real estate professionals who are working with a small budget or are just getting their feet wet with virtual technology. The camera has good features and is fairly well-designed.

Final Thoughts

To deliver stunning footage that sells properties, real estate professionals need a 360-degree camera that creates unforgettable images and videos. The cameras I’ve listed here are some of the best on the market for real estate. Consider budget and features as you choose the best 360 camera for your needs.

A couple of other real estate cameras to consider include the Matterport Pro2 and the Ricoh Theta SC2. The Matterport Pro2 is an expensive option but is used by many high-end real estate professionals. The Ricoh SC2 is more affordable and offers many comparable qualities to those on this list.
