This mount is also incredibly versatile. Although I prefer mounting my GoPro to the front of my helmet, you can also mount it to the top or side of your helmet. This can provide interesting viewing angles, which make for fantastic ski or snowboard videos. 

Helmet mounts are popular options for skiers and snowboarders because they capture a realistic first-person perspective. Therefore, you can view your footage back and see precisely what your own eyes saw. This makes for immersive ski or snowboard videos you can share with friends and family. 

Although you may be skeptical about attaching your GoPro using an adhesive sticker, I’m here to assure you that your GoPro won’t fall off when skiing or snowboarding. The adhesive offers a secure connection and is stable even during the roughest or bumpiest conditions. 

However, the main downside with this mount is that once the adhesive is placed, you can’t move it to another location. If you choose to remove the mount, you won’t be able to use it again. Therefore, you should only consider this mount if you have your own helmet and don’t need to rent one on the slopes. 

My Verdict: The GoPro Helmet Mount is a fan favorite among skiers and snowboarders who record with GoPro cameras. This mount is easy to use and provides an excellent first-person point of view.

The GoPro Performance Chest Mount is one of the best GoPro mounts for skiing or snowboarding. You can place this mount around your chest and attach your camera to the center position. This offers an incredible first-person point of view and incredibly stable footage since it’s mounted to your chest.

In terms of build quality, the straps are designed with a padded, breathable material that doesn’t agitate or bother you during extended periods of use. This mount also includes a standard 3-prong strap and a quick-buckle release so you can quickly mount and detach your GoPro.

The GoPro Performance Chest Mount is an amazing mount for skiing or snowboarding because it doesn’t get in the way of your rides. For example, with a helmet mount, you may notice the increased weight on your head and added wind resistance when cruising down black diamonds.

This mount avoids these problems and offers a comfortable way to record your snowboard or ski adventures. However, my main criticism of this mount is that it doesn’t have a J-hook. Therefore, you can’t adjust the camera position once you mount it to your chest. Nonetheless, the standard viewing angle should be more than ideal for most skiers or snowboarders. 

My Verdict: The GoPro Performance Chest Mount is my personal favorite mount for skiing or snowboarding. This is because this mount is comfortable to wear, offers an outstanding recording angle, and stays stable in the middle of my chest despite bumpy terrain and jumps. 

3. GoPro Head Strap with QuickClip (Best Convenience)

The GoPro Head Strap Mount is an excellent option if you want an easy and convenient way of recording casual snowboard and ski footage. It also provides the same viewing angle as the GoPro Helmet Mount so that you can expect amazing GoPro footage.

This mount straps directly over your snowboard or ski helmet. Then, you can mount your GoPro onto the head strap to record your slope adventures. The head strap’s fabric is thick and moisture-wicking. Therefore, it remains stable even if you fall down and get snow onto it. 

Furthermore, the interior of the head strap features a grippy rubber material to provide further stability. Best of all, this mount isn’t fixed like the GoPro Helmet Mount. You can easily take it off your helmet and let your friend borrow it without any problems whatsoever. Even though you may be wearing a helmet, the head strap itself is comfortable if placed directly on your head.

However, I don’t recommend this mount for hardcore snowboarders or skiers who blitz down black diamonds or go off massive jumps. This is because there is a slight chance the head strap may fall off if mounted insufficiently. However, this mount is perfect for you if you are a casual snowboarder or skier who enjoys cruising down the slopes. 

My Verdict: The GoPro Head Strap with QuickClip is the most convenient GoPro mount for skiing and snowboarding because it’s incredibly portable and easy to attach to your helmet. It’s also very affordable and suitable for beginner skiers or snowboarders who want something simple.

4. GoPro Suction Cup Mount (Best Versatility)

• Mounting Position: The body of your skis
• Viewing Angle: Flexible

The GoPro Suction Cup Mount is made by GoPro itself and offers a quick and easy way to mount your GoPro to the body of your ski or snowboard. Furthermore, this mount is portable, lightweight, and relatively affordable. 

Here’s a great example of how the footage this mount offers when attached to the front of your snowboard:

As you can see, the mount is placed close to the ground and gets you into the middle of the action. Although I recommend a chest or helmet mount if you only want one mount, you can use the GoPro Suction Cup Mount as an additional accessory to mix up your ski or snowboard videos. 

In terms of mounting it onto your equipment, you can place the suction cup onto any flat surface of your skis or snowboard. It’s easy to attach and remove using the locking mechanism. Furthermore, this mount offers vibration control to alleviate camera shake and bumps while cruising down the mountain. 

You shouldn’t worry about this mount falling off either, even when traveling at fast speeds. This is because it’s an industrial strength suction cup proven at speeds over 150 miles per hour. In my experience, this mount has never fallen off my skis or snowboard.

Even though I was worried about the mount detaching due to the landing impact after big jumps, the suction cup didn’t move or budge.

My Verdict: The GoPro Suction Cup Mount offers the best versatility because you can mount it anywhere on your skis or snowboard. However, I enjoy placing it on the front of my skis, so my GoPro records close-up footage of the terrain ahead of me. 

5. Forevercam Pole Mount (Best Hands-Free)

The Forevercam Pole Mount is only suitable for skiers and can easily mount on ski poles with a 0.59 to 1.55-inch diameter. Therefore, you should measure your ski pole’s diameter before ordering this product to ensure it fits. You can rotate this mount 360 degrees to find the best viewing angle possible.

Since your GoPro is attached to your ski pole, you can use it as a makeshift extended selfie stick to capture some interesting angles and points of view. However, if you use your ski poles normally, your camera records the terrain ahead of you at an angle lower than eye level.

The pole mount is also incredibly sturdy and has never fallen off my ski poles, even when I travel dangerously fast down double black diamond slopes. This mount is made with high-quality aluminum that’s more sturdy than plastic. However, it’s also lightweight, dustproof, and anti-corrosive. 

My only criticism of this mount is that it can break or damage if you secure it too tightly to your ski poles. For this reason, you shouldn’t overtighten the clamp when placing it around your pole. Nonetheless, this mount has provided me with innovative ski footage and is a favorite among my friends because I can easily record their runs too!

My Verdict: The Forevercam Pole Mount is an excellent hands-free GoPro mount because it attaches to your ski poles. Although most GoPro skiers don’t tend to place mounts on their poles, it offers unique clips you can add to your GoPro ski montage.

The Sametop Head Strap Mount can be used directly on your helmet or head. In addition, it’s fully adjustable and suitable for all sizes. This is the perfect mount if you want a budget-friendly way of recording casual snowboard and ski GoPro content. In addition, it offers an excellent way to record hands-free first-person point of view videos. 

This mount is made with adjustable nylon straps with non-slip rubber. Therefore, it stabilizes easily on your helmet, offering a tight and secure fit. It’s also built with durable polycarbonate buckles to ensure a reliable connection. Similar to the options above, this mount is waterproof and safe for snowboarding or skiing. 

Furthermore, there are a few differences when I compare this mount to the official GoPro Head Strap listed at #3. While there may be a slight difference in build quality, the Sametop mount’s lower price point offers tremendous value for budget-conscious snowboarders and skiers. 

However, I don’t recommend this mount for expert snowboarders and skiers since heavy impacts might cause the mount to fall off. Instead, this mount is suitable for beginner and amateur riders who want to create fun content to share with friends. In essence, this mount is ideal for low-impact snowboarders and skiers. 

My Verdict: The Sametop Head Strap Mount is the best budget-friendly option because it’s incredibly affordable and offers a simple way to attach your GoPro to your helmet. 

7. GoPro Hand + Wrist Strap (Best Viewing Angle Creativity)

The GoPro Hand + Wrist Strap Mount is a unique mount because it’s worn like a watch around your wrist. So naturally, therefore, there will likely be a lot of movement and shakiness as you cruise down the slopes. However, your GoPro stabilizes most of the shakiness, so you end up with an incredible GoPro video.

I love this mount because it provides a lot of versatility and viewing angle creativity. For example, I can film the slope ahead of me like I’m holding a selfie stick. Or, I can film my friends as they take on the terrain park. Either way, the options are endless, and you can create amazing GoPro videos with this single mount.

This mount is built with waterproof materials, so you don’t have to worry about getting it wet or covered in snow. Furthermore, it offers the ability to adjust your camera angle 360 degrees. Therefore, you can really get the best shots and footage. It’s also lightweight and comfortable to wear. In terms of adjustability, it’s one-size-fits-all and suitable for most adult wrists.

The primary drawback of this mount is that it’s relatively more expensive than the other options above. Furthermore, it doesn’t provide the most stable GoPro footage if you want to focus on skiing or snowboarding and not recording. It may also cause discomfort to your wrist if worn too long.

My Verdict: The GoPro Hand + Strip Strap offers exceptional versatility because you can choose where to point your GoPro. For example, you can easily film your friends and yourself during the same run. This isn’t possible with most other GoPro mounts.
