In this article, I will take an in-depth look at different hidden lightbulb security cameras and explain why certain ones rise above the pack.
I’ve spent a lot of my life working with cameras. That knowledge, combined with ample research and first-hand experience, enabled me to analyze and review different light bulb models based on their traits, usability, and effectiveness.
The Symynelec Bulb Security Camera is my pick for the best device in its field thanks to its numerous security features and high-quality imagery.
It’s a solid model that comes with a full 360-degree viewing angle. It also records in full HD video and is able to shoot in both light and dark environments. The advanced motion detection and alarm function simply add to that inherent protection.
However, there are many other great models in the same space. I’ll break down other top devices, and explain why they’re above the pack, in further detail below.

Top Light Bulb Security Cameras
In the following section, I analyze my picks for the top light bulb cameras and go over what niche each one fills.
1. Symynelec Bulb Security Camera
- Best for: Overall
- Key Features: Full Wi-Fi functionality. Motion detection. Alarm function. 360-degree panoramic view. HD video and night vision.
- Viewing Angle: 360 degrees
- Voltage: 240 volts
- Video Capture Resolution: 1080p
Equipped with a 360-degree fisheye lens, this model from Symynelec is an incredibly useful light bulb camera that allows you to keep a careful watch over any area. It comes with advanced motion detection and shoots in high-quality 1080p both day and night.
The alarm function works without a hitch too. There’s also excellent Wi-Fi functionality and everything gets set up in seconds. It’s easy to use, quick to operate and comes with multiple modes. You even get a handy bendable extension socket for added functionality.
The only downside is that the LED lights aren’t the best when it comes to illumination, which does hurt the night vision a little bit. Even so, you won’t find a light bulb security camera as well-rounded as this one.
2. Tupeya Wireless Light Bulb Camera
- Best for: All-day
- Key Features: Crystal clear 1080p HD recording both day and night. Excellent coloration. Supports memory cards up to 128GB. Compatible with smartphones and computers.
- Viewing Angle: 360 degrees
- Power Source: Corded electric
- Video Capture Resolution: 1080p
This model from Tupeya brings you a mix of security options and high-end specs that create a reliable camera that can be used at any time of day. It offers night vision up to 32 feet, as well as 1080p resolution and full HD color. That makes it perfect for people who need full coverage.
The software is easy to use and a breeze to set up. That makes the bulb camera perfect for all users at all experience levels. There’s also a good cloud storage option, which comes in handy when paired with the 24/7 recording and 128GB memory card support.
As a light, this model is a bit lacking. It doesn’t have the best glow and it takes a while to power on. If you don’t need this as a light bulb, however, or if you only need a bit of light from the model you get a strong security device that you can stick just about anywhere you need.
3. Nunet Nucam
- Best for: Versatility
- Key Features: 2k resolution. 3D view. Remote control and full app functionality. Quick and easy setup. Clear night vision with infrared light.
- Viewing Angle: 360 degrees
- Dimensions:
- Video Capture Resolution: 2k
The Nucam is the perfect light bulb security camera for users who want to cover a lot of ground. Not only does it have an excellent 360-degree field of view, but it also swivels a full 180 degrees to give you even better coverage.
Another bonus of this model is the excellent app integration. The V380 app works seamlessly, letting you check up on your device (and its footage) from just about anywhere. You also get updates when something gets picked up by the motion detection.
There are a few setbacks, such as no included SD card and a lack of 5GHz functionality, but they don’t affect the general usability all that much. If you want something that you can use to see in a lot of different areas, you won’t get anything better than this.
4. Besdersec Motion Detection Camera
- Best for: Affordability
- Key Features: Incredibly simple setup. 1080p resolution with full night vision. Intelligent AI mode. Smart motion alarm. Low price point.
- Viewing Angle: 360 degrees
- Voltage: N/A
- Video Capture Resolution: 1080p
Those looking for a strong security camera that won’t break the bank will enjoy this model. Despite the low price, it offers a 360-degree field of view on top of a 1080p capture resolution. The setup is also simple, allowing you to get it up and running in a matter of minutes.
The intelligent AI mode, which lights up when someone moves by, is also incredibly useful when mixed with strong night vision. The smart motion alarm is also quite handy and you get full smartphone and wireless functionality so you can always keep an eye on what’s happening outside.
It does utilize a power source, which limits its portability. Another drawback is that it only works with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. If you know that going into it, you’re getting a strong, high-resolution security camera that gives you a lot of premium features without cranking up the price.
5. Ring Floodlight
- Best for: Floodlight
- Key Features: Excellent motion detection. Extremely bright floodlights for advanced, all-around protection. 1080 HD video. Infrared night vision and waterproof. Alexa compatible.
- Viewing Angle: 140 horizontal, 70 vertical
- Voltage: 120 volts
- Video Capture Resolution: 1080p
While not strictly a light bulb camera, this floodlight from Ring is a great light-focused security device that helps bring some premium protection to your home. The premium device enables you to easily record and playback the 1080p HD footage for up to 60 days.
On top of that, there are excellent privacy features and a strong, weatherproof design. As a Ring product, the floodlight also comes with ample functionality across numerous devices. It’s Alexa compatible and seamlessly integrates with your phone.
The video quality, while great, isn’t quite as strong at night. The motion detection is also a bit too sensitive and can’t be turned off, which is a bit of a bummer. However, those are extremely small nitpicks for what is a solid security device.
How to Choose a Light Bulb Security Camera
Always think about the following factors when getting a good light bulb security camera.
Recording Quality
If you get a security camera that’s blurry or records in low quality, it defeats the general purpose. Rather, you need something that’s crisp and clear. Look for models with HD video. Also, try to purchase models that record in 1080 or 4k whenever possible.
It’s also important to ensure your camera can see during both the day and night. Large lights can help illuminate the dark, as can good night vision models. Just be sure your premium video quality works at different times of the day.
Viewing Angle
As with quality, your security camera won’t do much good if it can’t see what it’s supposed to survey. That is why a large viewing angle is so important. The more space your camera can cover, the better protected your home or space will be.
Always get a viewing angle that fits your needs. If you only need to watch a single area, such as outside a door, you can get something a bit more focused. However, if you need to watch a yard or room, you want to go wider.
Wi-Fi and Smartphone Functionality
A big part of the modern age is compatibility. Your light bulb security camera is no different. Rather than getting something that makes your life harder, purchase a bulb with enhanced functionality across multiple devices.
Good Wi-Fi functionality is critical when it comes to usability, as is strong smartphone compatibility. Being able to quickly check your live footage is essential because you don’t need to go and check your footage when you want to look at it.
My Verdict
In my opinion, the Symynelec Bulb Security Camera is the best all-around light bulb security camera on the market. The 360-degree viewing angle is incredibly nice for security purposes, especially when mixed with the crisp 1080p resolution.
The model uses 220 volts, can see at night, and has full two-way audio. If you want a hidden device that you can easily fit into any place around your home, it’s the perfect option.
