How to Update GoPro Studio on Windows
Similar to Mac, you can’t update GoPro Studio on Windows because GoPro stopped supporting the editing program in 2018.
However, GoPro replaced GoPro Studio with GoPro Quik for Desktop. Unfortunately, this program was also discontinued in 2021, but you can still download GoPro Quik for Desktop on GoPro’s official website. This means that there haven’t been any updates for GoPro Quik for Desktop since 2021.
Can I Still Use GoPro Studio?
Although GoPro Studio was discontinued in 2018, you can still use GoPro Studio if you already have it on your computer.
If you’ve never used GoPro Studio before and want to download it on your computer, GoPro doesn’t offer a download on its website anymore.
Why was GoPro Studio Discontinued?
GoPro Studio was discontinued because it was replaced by GoPro Quik for Desktop. This means GoPro actually created two different desktop editing programs.
However, GoPro Quik for Desktop was also discontinued in 2021 and no longer receives updates from GoPro. GoPro moved away from desktop editing software to focus on its mobile editing program called GoPro Quik.

Apple iMovie and Windows Movie Maker are great options if you’re a beginner video editor.
However, DaVinci Resolve and HitFilm Express are better editing programs for more advanced video editors. These two editing programs offer a comprehensive set of editing tools that rival the best video software available.
My favorite free GoPro Studio alternative is DaVinci Resolve. DaVinci Resolve offers professional editing tools, color-grading, effects, and audio post-production. However, this software takes some time to learn since it offers so many advanced features.

Professional video editors widely use these two state-of-the-art editing software because of all the editing features they offer. If you’re interested in making professional-level GoPro videos, I recommend choosing either Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.
However, if you only want to create basic videos, you don’t need to purchase paid video editing software. Instead, you can use any of the editing programs mentioned in the free GoPro Studio alternatives section above.
