So, let’s discuss how to Use GoPro as a webcam on Windows and Mac computers.

How Do I Connect My Older GoPro to My Computer as a Webcam?

If you don’t have a GoPro HERO10 Black, HERO9 Black, or HERO8 Black, here are the accessories you need:

  • Micro-HDMI to HDMI cable
  • HDMI to USB video capture card

GoPro doesn’t support wireless webcam usage, so these accessories are required if your want to use a GoPro HERO4, HERO5, HERO6, HERO7, and others as a webcam.

I recommend using this video capture card and this micro-HDMI to HDMI cable if you don’t own them already.

Step 1: Turn on your GoPro camera and select Preferences > Input/Output > HDMI Output. Select Live for your HDMI Output.

Step 2: Connect your GoPro to your micro-HDMI to HDMI cable. Then, connect the cable to your video capture card. Lastly, plug the video capture card into your computer.

Step 3: Once your camera is successfully connected to your computer, you can begin using it as a webcam right away. Open your video conference software, such as Zoom or Discord, and select the name of your video capture card as the webcam source.

Step 4: If you want to use your webcam for Twitch or other live streaming services, you need to use Open Broadcaster Software (OBS).

Setting up your older GoPro as a webcam is easy, as long as you have the required accessories.
