How Do I Manually Upload to GoPro Cloud?
There are two quick and easy ways to manually upload videos to GoPro Cloud. The best method for you depends on if you’re using a mobile device or a computer.
However, you can only use GoPro Cloud if you subscribe to Quik or subscribe to GoPro.
A GoPro Quik subscription costs:
- $1.99 per month (on a monthly plan)
- $9.99 per year (on an annual plan)
A GoPro Subscription costs:
- $4.99 per month (on a monthly plan)
- $24.99 per year (on an annual plan)
Both subscriptions provide unlimited storage space within GoPro Cloud. However, if you don’t have a subscription to either plan, you won’t be able to upload videos to GoPro Cloud. Instead, you’ll need to upload your videos to a different digital platform such as Google Drive or Dropbox.
Let’s discuss both GoPro Cloud upload methods now:
Instructions for Mobile or Tablet Devices
GoPro has a mobile app called GoPro Quik. This app makes it very easy to transfer videos from your GoPro to your phone. Then, you can use GoPro Quik to upload videos to GoPro Cloud.
Within GoPro Quik, you can turn on a feature called Auto Upload. When Auto Upload is enabled, GoPro Quik will automatically upload new videos and photos to the Cloud anytime your GoPro (HERO5 or newer) is connected to a wall charger and within your home’s Wi-Fi range.
Step 1: Download GoPro Quik to your mobile device from Google Play or the Apple App Store.
Step 2: Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions in GoPro Quik to connect your GoPro camera.
Step 3: If this is your first time connecting to GoPro Quik, you’ll need to subscribe to a new account or sign in to GoPro Subscription.
Step 4: Once you’re signed in, press the Cloud icon on the upper left-hand corner of your screen.
Step 5: The app will display a list of available networks. Tap on your network and follow the on-screen instructions to connect.
Step 6: Enter the password for the network you chose. Tap ENTER PASSWORD. The setup process will complete in around one minute.
Step 7: When the setup is finished, tap GOT IT.
Step 8: Plug your GoPro camera into a wall charger with an output of 5V 2A. Your videos will begin uploading to GoPro Cloud once the battery reaches 70%.
After you set up Auto Upload, you don’t need to connect your GoPro to GoPro Quik in the future to upload videos to GoPro Cloud. Instead, your videos will automatically upload to the Cloud once your camera is in range of your home’s Wi-Fi and connected to a wall outlet.
You can also manually upload GoPro videos to the Cloud. Follow the same steps as above but go into GoPro Quik’s Preferences > GoPro Subscription > Manual Upload and select the videos you want to upload to the Cloud. The Manual Upload feature is great if you prefer to keep Auto Upload off.
Instructions for Mac or Windows Users
Uploading GoPro videos to Cloud is very easy for computer users. As long as your videos are already on your computer, you can use GoPro.com to upload videos to the Cloud.
Step 1: Visit GoPro’s login page and sign in to your GoPro account.
Step 2: Hover your mouse over the drop-down menu under your account name and select My Media.
Step 3: Next, click Add Media in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Step 4: A pop-up will appear, letting you drag and drop the files you want to upload to GoPro Cloud. You can also click UPLOAD YOUR MEDIA to find the video files on your computer.
Step 5: Your videos will be uploaded and stored onto GoPro Cloud.
How Do I Access My GoPro Cloud?
You can access the content you uploaded to GoPro Cloud with GoPro Quik or GoPro.com.
On the GoPro Quik mobile app, press the Cloud icon on the upper left-hand corner of your screen. Then, your GoPro Cloud media will appear.
For desktop users, you can view your GoPro Cloud by logging into your GoPro account on GoPro.com. Once you log in to your account, click on My Media under your account name.
How Long Does It Take to Upload GoPro Videos to Cloud?
How long it takes to upload GoPro videos to Cloud depends on primarily two factors:
- Your network’s speed
- The amount and size of your content
As such, I can’t give you a definitive time on how long it takes to upload GoPro videos to Cloud. If your videos are taking a long time to upload to Cloud, I recommend turning off anything that may be potentially slowing down your network speed. This includes pausing downloads or streaming content.
Furthermore, 360 content takes a much longer time to upload than standard 2D content. So, please be patient if you’re uploading 360 footage from your GoPro MAX.
What’s the Fastest Way to Upload GoPro Videos to Cloud?
The fastest way to upload GoPro videos to Cloud is with the Auto Upload feature inside GoPro Quik.
Any new videos you record with your GoPro are automatically uploaded to GoPro Cloud when you enable Auto Upload in GoPro Quik.
However, your camera needs to be connected to your home’s Wi-Fi network. Your camera must also be plugged into a wall charger and have at least 70% battery.
Keep in mind, the Auto Upload feature won’t work when your camera is plugged into a computer. It needs to be connected to a wall outlet.
