What Camera Does Emma Chamberlain Use?

Youtube sensation Emma Chamberlain uses multiple cameras to create content, most notably the Canon EOS M50 Mark II. She’s also known to use the Contax T2 film camera and formerly used the Canon PowerShot G7X Mark II for her videos.

My name is Caleb, and I’ve been a photographer for more than four years. I’ve done the research so you don’t have to, and found out the ins-and-outs of Emma Chamberlain’s gear setup. In this article, I’ll break all of it down and go over her cameras and other equipment.

If that catches your interest, keep reading!

What Vlogging Camera does Emma Chamberlain Use?

Emma Chamberlain’s vlogging camera is the mirrorless Canon EOS M50 Mark II, and it might be the most important one in her collection.

Her vlogs, after all, are what made her channel super popular on YouTube. Many of them were captured using this camera, which was designed with content creators in mind.

The EOS M50 has a non-premium price tag, but the quality is far from cheap. The camera is able to record 4K video at 24 frames per second, or at a more standard HD resolution at 120 frames per second.

Both settings are good for capturing vlogs and other similar types of footage, making the better option a matter of user preference.

The M50 even has a dedicated mode for shooting vertically. For content creators that specialize in mobile platforms like Instagram and TikTok, this feature is a very useful one.

Additionally, this camera is lightweight which makes it easier to bring for travels or carry on the move.

Canon also sells this model as part of a Content Creator Kit, which comes with a tripod grip and microphone.

What Film Camera does Emma Chamberlain Use?

There’s a certain charm to film photography, and this is a trend that Emma Chamberlain is in on. She uses a Contax T2 for shooting on film, a high-end model that was originally released in 1990.

Because of the age of the T2, you can’t get this one straight from the manufacturer anymore. This scarcity has inflated the price further each year, but also makes the T2 a valuable collector’s item.

Emma Chamberlain’s T2 has a golden color scheme, which is even less common than the standard silver one.

Fortunately, the 35mm Kodak Portra 400 film she uses with her T2 is still readily available. It’s some of the highest quality film around, which is a double-edged sword. Pictures using this film will look great. However, it’s not economical for photographers on a budget.

What Lens does Emma Chamberlain Use?

Emma Chamberlain uses the Canon EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 lens, which comes with the EOS M50 Mark II. As the M50 is designed with vlogging in mind, the lens is also well-suited to the task.

The lens makes use of stabilization technology to avoid shaky footage and is also designed to make smooth adjustments after initial focus.

What Other Camera Accessories does Emma Chamberlain Use?

Audio can make or break a video, and Emma Chamberlain uses the Rode VideoMicro Compact on-camera mic when recording her videos.

As the name suggests, the microphone is small enough to not get in the way of recording. It’s only 80 millimeters long and can easily plug into the camera without requiring a battery of its own.

Emma also uses the Fotopro UFO2 tripod to set up her shots. The main advantage of UFO2 over other tripods is the flexibility of the legs, which can bend to a number of positions. This tripod can also be used with a number of devices such as GoPros, and even cell phones.

What Camera did Emma Chamberlain Start With?

Emma previously used the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II. Like the M50, this one is a well-known model from Canon.

It’s also a popular option for vloggers specifically, and you have the option of buying it as part of a video creator’s kit.

While the creator’s kit doesn’t come with a microphone like the M50’s does, it includes a tripod and an extra battery along with a 32GB memory card.

The G7 X Mark II is one of those cameras you can’t go wrong with for content creation, as it remains one of the most widely used video creators.

What Other Cameras Has Emma Chamberlain Used Before?

Emma Chamberlain also used the Sony Handycam CX405, a vintage-style camcorder.

Some influencers have started using camcorders like the CX405 in recent years as a way of embracing nostalgia and achieving a different look in their content.

The original design of the Handycam is from the 80s, but it’s still being made by Sony and has 1080p or 4K versions these days.

How does Emma Chamberlain Edit Her Videos?

If you want to edit your videos like Emma Chamberlain, you’ll have to use an Apple system. That’s because she uses iMovie, which is only available on iOS and Mac.

Emma uses a 16-inch MacBook Pro for her editing work.

While the MacBook Pro comes in both cheaper and more expensive models, we can assume that Emma uses a higher-end one that can handle intensive video editing.

How to Edit Pictures Like Emma Chamberlain?

We don’t know what software she uses to edit her photos.

But if you’re looking to capture the aesthetic used by a specific content creator such as Chamberlain, you can’t go wrong with dedicated photo editing software like Adobe Lightroom.

The software is from the same company as Photoshop but is designed for enhancing and changing the look of your photos rather than completely altering them.

Many photographers process their pictures in Lightroom as a final step before posting them online, and the program can be easily used to add a specific aesthetic to your photography.

Hey, there’s not enough info on her equipment out there to do a full article on her podcasting gear. If I had to guess, though, I’d assume her microphone is the Rode VideoMicro Compact or VideoMic GO since those are what she uses for audio in her videos.
