What is the GoPro Key For?

The GoPro Quik Key is a device that lets you transfer the footage on your GoPro’s microSD card to a mobile device. As such, you can use the GoPro Quik Key to free up space on your microSD card once the footage is uploaded to your phone.

However, it’s important to note that the GoPro Quik Key is an older piece of technology and is actually discontinued by GoPro. Therefore, GoPro doesn’t sell this device on its website anymore.

GoPro Quik Key was discontinued because GoPro released the GoPro Quik mobile app. With GoPro Quik, you can wirelessly transfer videos and photos from your GoPro to your phone.

As such, GoPro Quik essentially does the same thing as the GoPro Quik Key without needing to remove the microSD card from your camera.

Does GoPro Quik Key Work with iPhone?

The GoPro Quik Key does work with iPhone as long as you have the iPhone/iPad version.

There are three versions of the GoPro Quik Key. One has a lightning connector, another has a micro-USB connector, and the last one has a USB-C connector.

If you have the GoPro Quik Key with the micro-USB or USB-C connector, you won’t be able to use it with your iPhone.

Does GoPro Quik Key Use USB-C?

As I mentioned earlier, there are three versions of the GoPro Quik Key. One of the versions has a USB-C connector. So if you have the GoPro Quik Key with the USB-C connector, you can upload your GoPro footage to any mobile device with a USB-C port.

How to Use GoPro Quik Key?

The GoPro Quik Key is an easy plug-and-play device that lets you quickly upload your GoPro videos to your phone.

Step 1: Turn off your GoPro camera. Then, remove the microSD card.

Step 2: Take the microSD card and insert it into your GoPro Quik Key.

Step 3: Insert the GoPro Quick Key into your mobile or tablet device.

Step 4: Open your device’s file manager folder to access your GoPro videos and photos.

Step 5: Choose the videos you want to save or share with your friends and family.

In 5 short steps, you can quickly transfer videos from your GoPro camera to your mobile device.

What Are GoPro Quik Key Alternatives?

As I mentioned earlier, you can also use the GoPro Quik mobile app on the Apple App Store or Google Play. GoPro Quik lets you wireless upload videos from your GoPro camera to your phone.

The only downside of using GoPro Quik to transfer videos is that you’ll use up your camera’s battery as your videos are transferring. Therefore, the GoPro Quik Key is the better option if you’re on the go and can’t charge your camera.

FAQs

Below are a few common questions about how to use GoPro Quik Key.

Do you need an SD card reader for GoPro?

Since you can transfer videos wirelessly using GoPro Quik, you don’t need an SD card reader to upload your GoPro videos. If you want to upload GoPro videos to your computer, you can upload the videos to your phone first with GoPro Quik. Then, save the video on Google Drive or any other digital program.

You can then download the videos from Google Drive on your computer. However, you can still use an SD card reader to upload GoPro videos to your computer as a faster option.

What SD card does GoPro use?

GoPro cameras use a microSD card to store files. Check out GoPro’s official microSD card list to see the microSD cards that are compatible with your GoPro camera. It’s important to use one of the microSD cards on the list because untested microSD cards are known to cause glitches and bugs in GoPro cameras.

Why is my GoPro Quik Key not working?

There are a few reasons why your GoPro Quik Key may not be working. First, certain Android phones don’t support the exFAT file format typically used by microSD cards 64 GB or larger. Second, some Android devices do not support USB-On-The-Go. You can use EASY OTG Checker to see if USB-On-The-Go is enabled on your Android device.

Hi Agnieszka! It seems that many GoPro Quick Key users are having the same difficulties as you. Since GoPro Quik Key came out several years ago, GoPro may have stopped updating the firmware to remain compatible with your Apple devices. I recommend reaching out to GoPro support at https://gopro.com/help/ContactUs to see if they can offer a solution.
