YouTuber and famous gamer FaZe Rain uses the Sony a7S II as his primary camera. However, he also uses the Canon VIXIA HF G40 camcorder and the Logitech C920 webcam.
My name is Caleb, and I’ve been a photographer for more than four years. My main focus is sports photography, where I’ve covered various sports at many levels.
In this article, I’ll talk about the cameras used by FaZe Rain, along with the rest of his gear.
If you’re interested in what goes into his videos, from the main camera all the way to his microphone and keyboard, keep reading for the full details.
What Camera Does FaZe Rain Use?
FaZe Rain’s main camera is the Sony a7S II, a good choice for YouTube videos thanks to its focus on videography over still photography.
This model has a smaller resolution for photos, with only 12.2 megapixels, but it makes up for it with 4K video recording, a fast processor, and in-body stabilization.
Also, the a7S II is relatively affordable for a full-frame camera with this video capability.
Naturally, it’s gained popularity over some higher-end but less accessible Sony models, like the a7S III or the a9.
What Camcorder Does FaZe Rain Use?
In his videos, FaZe Rain uses the Canon VIXIA HF G40 camcorder for face cams.
This camcorder is a bit old at this point, lacking the ability to record 4K video, but it still features a high-quality sensor and a built-in 20x optical zoom lens.
Also, as a smaller camcorder rather than a large full-frame camera, the G40 is more portable and easy to set up compared to many DSLR options.
What Webcam Does FaZe Rain Use?
FaZe Rain’s webcam is the Logitech C920 HD Pro, an affordable model that has, at this point, been discontinued by Logitech. However, it is still available on the secondhand market.
The webcam isn’t too special, but it covers the basic features most buyers want, like the ability to take Skype or Zoom calls in HD.
The resolution is 1080p, but it is limited to 30fps. For what most people will use this webcam for, though, having a higher frame rate wouldn’t offer much.
Like other webcams, this one can also be used as a video camera for recording, not just for taking calls or streaming.
What Microphone Does FaZe Rain Use?
FaZe Rain uses the Audio-Technica AT2020 condenser microphone. While this one might cost more than your average off-the-shelf microphone, it’s not that much compared to many professional audio products.
It’s a studio-style microphone with a cardioid pattern that reduces the amount of sound picked up from the sides and rear. The result is a clearer focus on what’s being spoken into the mic.
It doesn’t, however, come with extras like a stand or a shock mount, so you’ll have to bring the rest of the equipment yourself if you decide to buy this one.
What Keyboard Does FaZe Rain Use?
FaZe Rain’s keyboard is the Corsair K70 LUX, an RGB mechanical keyboard targeted at the gaming market.
The keyboard has an aluminum frame for durability, and Corsair claims they make it from aircraft-grade materials.
You can change the programming for the RGB lights, and it also comes with a key picker for swapping the keycaps out for something to your preference.
Also, the keyboard has its own USB port that you can plug something like a headset or mouse into, which might help if your keyboard gets in the way of cords for these.
What Mouse Does FaZe Rain Use?
FaZe Rain uses the SteelSeries Rival 3 mouse. Just like the keyboard, this one is targeted at gamers.
It’s made from durable polymers, and the mechanical switches are advertised with a lifetime of 60 million clicks.
Like with many gaming products, these switches, as well as the lighting, are also programmable through a specific program.
Here are some other frequently asked questions about FaZe Rain and his setup.
Did FaZe Rain Start FaZe Clan?
FaZe Rain is a co-owner of FaZe Clan but didn’t start it, as he joined a bit later on after its earliest days as a trickshotting group.
Where Does FaZe Rain Live Now?
It appears that FaZe Rain returned to the FaZe mansion in 2021, located in Burbank, California, and reportedly costs $80,000 per month in rent.
FaZe Rain’s primary camera is the well-known Sony a7S II, but his videos also use the less popular Canon VIXIA HF G40 camcorder.
