What Film Camera Does Kendall Jenner Use?

Celebrity influencer Kendall Jenner has made a hobby out of film photography, and she uses multiple cameras to do the job. Namely, Kendall Jenner uses the Contax T2, Pentax K1000, and Instax Wide 300.

I’m Caleb, and I have more than four years of photography experience. I’ve picked up a lot of knowledge about which cameras and accessories are best for different situations.

In this article, we’ll look at the cameras Kendall Jenner uses and the film that goes in them. If you’re interested in learning all about her setup, make sure to keep reading.

What Film Camera Does Kendall Jenner Use?

One of Kendall Jenner’s favorite film cameras is also one of the most famous ones out there. That camera is the Contax T2, known for being popular with celebrities. Of course, Jenner helped build that reputation thanks to her use of it.

The 35 mm film camera first came around in 1991 but has only become more valuable since its initial release.

Some of that price increase has to do with celebrities making the model more famous, but a lot of it results from natural supply and demand. After all, the T2 isn’t in production right now. You’ll have to get one from the secondhand market if you want one.

In return for the high price, you’ll get a point-and-shoot model that’s held up very well over the years. The 35 mm f/2.8 lens, made by Zeiss, is considered a particular strong point.

The build quality is also very strong, so there’s a good chance you can find one in good condition despite the model’s age.

Of course, even though it is a good camera, the T2’s price is undeniably inflated thanks to the low supply and celebrities popularizing it.

If you really want to have the same camera as Kendall Jenner and other celebrities, this one is a good choice. But if you’re looking for something appropriately priced, you might want to pass or wait for the T2 to fall out of favor as a fad.

What Other Film Cameras Does Kendall Jenner Use?

As someone with a lot of money to spend on gear, it’s not surprising that Kendall Jenner has multiple camera bodies in her collection. Here’s a look at Jenner’s cameras that aren’t the costly Contax T2.

Pentax K1000

If you want one of Kendall Jenner’s cameras but don’t want to pay a massive amount for the T2, the Pentax K1000 is a great option. Jenner also uses this one, but it’s not nearly as costly as the more famous and in-demand T2.

The K1000 was manufactured from 1976 to 1997. Production shifted to China in 1990 to keep costs down, and the later-built K1000s are made with cheaper materials.

That’s not to say the post-1990 models are bad. While they don’t have the same build quality as the original version, replacing some metal parts with plastic helped to lower the camera’s weight.

It’s considered an ideal film camera for students and newer photographers in general because of its easy-to-use design.

Also, its status as a legendary film camera has made it attractive to some professional photographers looking to add a retro style to their photos.

The camera uses interchangeable lenses and can accept any lens that uses the Pentax K-mount. This, of course, adds a bit more versatility than a fixed lens option like the T2.

Also, over three million K1000s were sold during the long production run. The high supply means it’s not hard to find one in the present day, and you won’t have to pay a crazy price to buy one.

Instax Wide 300

Instant cameras are another retro trend, and Kendall Jenner fills that role in her collection with the Instax Wide 300.

Although the camera has Instax in the name, it’s produced by Fujifilm. Instax is the name that Fujifilm markets its instant cameras and film under, rather than an independent brand.

The fixed lens has a 95 mm focal length with an f/14 aperture. Higher maximum apertures are the norm with instant cameras, but obviously, it still means you aren’t going to get the low-light performance or a lot of background blur with this model.

The Wide 300 came out in 2015, so there’s a bit of a modern touch in the design, even though instant cameras are usually associated with earlier times.

It’s relatively simple to use, making it another good option for newer photographers. It does, however, only work with Instax Wide instant film.

What Film Does Kendall Jenner Use?

Film photography isn’t just about the camera. The film itself also influences the final look. Here’s an overview of the film that Kendall Jenner uses.

Kodak Portra 400

Kodak Portra 400 film is popular with many film photographers for a good reason. It has a fine grain that won’t leave you with overly grainy results, and it has a versatile reputation for working well both indoors and outdoors.

In terms of look, Portra 400 film tends to produce the softer colors that are popular in a lot of film photos going for the “retro” look.

Kodak Gold 200

Kodak Gold 200 is another popular option, and the Kodak Gold series, in general, is a bit more affordable than its Portra counterpart.

As for differences between the two, Gold has warmer tones and deals with overexposure better. It’s best in brighter environments, and like the Portra series, it doesn’t have a ton of grain.

Kodak UltraMax 400

UltraMax 400 is another Kodak film that is a versatile option for several conditions. In that regard, it’s like the more expensive Porta 400. However, UltraMax has more of a quality dropoff from Portra than Gold, with a more noticeable grain.

Still, it has good contrast, colors, and exposure latitude compared to some lesser competitors. It’s worth using, just don’t expect the same results as the top-of-the-line Portra 400.
